About us

The Hostería Sommergarten is a colonial style built bungalow facility which is located in the small town Sangolquí, only a mere thirty minutes away from Quito. Here you will enjoy comfortable accommodation in one of our 20 bungalows with triple, double and single rooms. The vibrant flower garden includes a swimming pool and a sauna and offers an oasis of relaxation. At the same time our hotel is an ideal starting point for sports and cultural activities nearby or in the surrounding areas.

Each room has its own bathroom and Wi-Fi. In our restaurant we offer national as well as international cuisine with fresh ingredients from our garden and local markets.

The Hostería Sommergarten is allocated 2450 m above sea level, 400 m lower than the capital city Quito. It is therefore ideal for acclimatization in the so called Eternal Spring not far from the equator.

Who is the man behind the Hostería Sommergarten?

I am Ralph Sommer, a tourism expert. I travelled to Ecuador often in the 1980s and was astound by the rich contrast of the land and the friendliness of the people. My dream was to own a piece of land close to Quito as a place to relax and regenerate in the Eternal Spring of Ecuador. In 1989 I acquired the 1 hectare big piece of land in Sangolquí. Then it was only a main house with a swimming pool and a huge garden. Over the years the building of the bungalows, restaurant and other amenities has formed the Hostería what it is today. My goal is to offer a pleasant stay in a natural environment to guests from all over the world.
